How to send an empty chat message on Snapchat
- Copy the character — open the invisible text generator and hit "Copy single" on the Hangul Filler (U+3164) card.
- Open the chat — go to the conversation in Snapchat where you want the blank message.
- Paste and send — paste into the message field and hit send. The bubble arrives looking completely empty.
Snapchat trims ordinary spaces, which is why sending " " never worked. The invisible character is not a space as far as Snapchat is concerned — it is a letter that renders as nothing — so it passes straight through.
How to set an invisible Snapchat display name
- Copy U+3164 from the generator.
- Open Snapchat settings — tap your profile icon, then the gear icon.
- Edit your name — tap "Name", clear the field, paste the invisible character, and save.
Note that this changes your display name, not your username — Snapchat usernames are permanent and cannot be blank. Your friends will see an empty name on your profile and in their friends list.
Which invisible character works on Snapchat?
| What you want | Use this |
|---|---|
| Empty chat message | U+3164 Hangul Filler |
| Invisible display name | U+3164 Hangul Filler |
| Blank lines in stories | U+2800 Braille Blank |
Skip the zero-width space (U+200B) on Snapchat — its filters are aggressive about zero-width characters. For the full breakdown of when each blank works, see our U+3164 vs U+200B comparison.
Why “hack chat” tricks fail
If you have tried blank-message tricks that used to work and suddenly stopped, Snapchat likely tightened its whitespace trimming — not its unicode handling. Spaces, tabs and newlines get stripped; Hangul Filler does not, because it is classified as a letter.
One more thing: do not trust apps or sites that ask for your Snapchat login to "generate" blank text. The character is free and public — copy it from our generator without handing your credentials to anyone.
