How to get a blank name on X in 30 seconds

Short answer: Copy the Hangul Filler (U+3164) from our invisible text generator, paste it into the Name field under Edit profile, and save. Your display name now renders as blank.
  1. Copy the character — open our invisible text generator and hit "Copy single" on the Hangul Filler (U+3164) card. It looks like nothing was copied — that is the point.
  2. Open Edit profile — on X, go to your profile and tap "Edit profile".
  3. Replace your name — delete everything in the Name field, paste the invisible character, and hit Save.
  4. Check it — view your profile. Where your name used to be, there is now empty space. Your @handle stays exactly as it was.

Which invisible character works on X?

Short answer: U+3164 (Hangul Filler) is the reliable choice for a blank X display name. If X ever tightens its filter, U+2800 (Braille Blank) is the backup.

X validates display names but accepts unicode letters — and Hangul Filler counts as one. That is why the blank name works: X sees a valid one-character name and renders it as empty space.

Avoid the zero-width space (U+200B) here. X's filters strip zero-width characters more aggressively, which is the most common reason a blank-name attempt silently fails. Not sure which character to pick? Our U+3164 vs U+200B comparison breaks down exactly when each one works.

Blank name vs blank handle — the honest difference

Short answer: You can make your display name blank, but your @handle must stay visible. X requires handles to contain letters, numbers or underscores — there is no invisible character that bypasses this.

This trips people up: the name at the top of your profile (display name) and the @username underneath it follow different rules. The display name accepts unicode blanks; the handle does not. Any guide promising a fully invisible @handle is selling you something impossible.

The blank display name still gets you the clean, minimal look — your tweets show just your @handle with empty space above it.

X rejected my blank name — what now?

Short answer: If X clears the field or shows an error, the character was stripped. Try U+2800 (Braille Blank) instead, or paste the character twice — some versions of X want a minimum name length.

Three fixes cover nearly every failure: first, switch characters — Braille Blank (U+2800) passes filters that catch Hangul Filler. Second, paste two or three copies instead of one; X sometimes requires a minimum display-name length and a single invisible character does not meet it. Third, try from a different surface — the mobile app and the website do not always enforce the same rules.

Still stuck? Copy a fresh character from the generator — an old copy can pick up a stray space that breaks the trick.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a blank name on Twitter?
Copy the Hangul Filler invisible character (U+3164) from our invisible text generator, paste it into the Name field under Edit profile on X, and save. Your display name will appear blank while your @handle stays unchanged.
Will X ban me for a blank name?
No. A blank display name is just a standard unicode character — not a hack, exploit or rule violation. Countless accounts use invisible characters in their names without issue.
Can I have a blank username (handle) too?
No. X requires @handles to contain letters, numbers or underscores, and no invisible character bypasses that. Only the display name above it can be made blank.
What is the invisible character for Twitter?
U+3164 (Hangul Filler) is the one that works reliably on X. U+2800 (Braille Blank) is the backup if the first is ever filtered.
Why did my blank name stop working?
X occasionally tightens its text filters. Switch to a different invisible character — usually U+2800 — and re-save. Pasting two copies instead of one also helps when X enforces a minimum name length.
Does a blank name work on the X mobile app?
Yes. The character is handled the same on iOS, Android and the website. If one surface rejects it, try another — their validation rules are not always identical.
Can people still mention and find me?
Yes. Mentions, search and notifications all use your @handle, which stays fully visible and unchanged. Only the display name renders as blank.
