How to split a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF — it stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
  2. Pick Split by ranges and type ranges like 1-3, 5, 7-9, or pick Extract every page for one PDF per page.
  3. Click Split PDF.
  4. Download the split files one by one, or grab them all as one ZIP.

Why split a PDF?

Send only what's needed. A 40-page report becomes the 3-page chapter your colleague asked for. Break up big files. Splitting turns an unwieldy document into pieces small enough to email or attach. Extract every page when you need individual pages as separate files — for example, one invoice per page. Pages are copied losslessly, so split files look exactly like the original. To do the reverse, merge PDFs back together; to keep only some pages, extract PDF pages; to drop pages, delete PDF pages.

Ranges vs. every page

Ranges mode gives you one file per range you type — 1-3, 5 becomes two files. Every-page mode gives you one file per page, bundled as a single ZIP download so you don't have to click dozens of links. Both modes copy pages losslessly: no re-compression, no quality loss.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire split runs in your browser with JavaScript — your PDF never leaves your device, which makes this safe for sensitive documents.
How do I write page ranges?
Type ranges like 1-3, 5, 7-9. A range like 1-3 becomes one file containing pages 1, 2, and 3. A single number like 5 becomes a one-page file with just page 5.
What does Extract every page do?
It creates one single-page PDF per page of your document and bundles them into one ZIP download, so you get every page as its own file in one click.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are — same content, same resolution, no re-compression.
Can ranges overlap or repeat pages?
Yes. Each range you type becomes its own file, so you can repeat a page in several outputs if you need to.
What if I type a page number that doesn't exist?
The tool checks your ranges against the real page count and shows a clear error naming the out-of-range page, so you can fix it before splitting.
What if my PDF is password-protected?
Password-protected PDFs can't be opened in the browser, so they can't be split here. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then split.
Can I split a PDF on my phone?
Yes. The split tool works on phone and desktop browsers — pick the file, type your ranges, and download the split files.
